What are heatmap URL match types?

Modified on Sun, 30 Apr 2023 at 03:01 PM

You can view Heatmap data for a single, specific page or a group of pages. When viewing a Heatmap for a group of pages, you'll only see one snapshot, but the data that appears over the snapshot will be aggregated from all matching pages.

There are three URL match type that you can choose from:

  • The simple match type is a default match type. You can choose it when you want to view a Heatmap for a specific page on your site. The match will be correct if the URL path that users land on matches the URL path that you specify.
  • Use contain match type when you want to match loosely based on the word in a URL path. The match will be correct if the URL that users land on includes the text you specified.
  • Use exact match type when you want to target a specific page with a fixed query or hash parameters. The match will be correct if the URL path that users land on matches exactly the one you specified.
